How does cloud backup work?

Onlime cloud backup works through our apps and website, allowing you to backup your computer and phone to our secure cloud in Scandinavia via the internet. Your folders on Windows and Mac are backed up automatically as soon as you add them to backup in the Onlime app. Onlime runs in the background and watches as you create new files or modify existing files - all changes are automatically backed up to our servers in Scandinavia. You can also schedule your cloud backup to run when it suits you. For example, choose between individual days of the week and set a start time and how long Onlime should run. Onlime stops backing up when all files have been updated in the cloud. What do you do if there are some files you don't want to transfer to the cloud? Fortunately, Onlime allows you to exclude certain files and folders from being included in the backup of the parent folder you added for backup. For example, this can be smart to exclude Outlook files from your 'Documents' folder.

How do I restore files from cloud backup?

You restore files from your cloud backup in Onlime via our apps or website. If you lose your files, you can restore them from your online backup in Onlime. This is possible because Onlime automatically backs up your files online. You therefore avoid having to remember to back up your files. If you accidentally delete a file yourself or your computer crashes, your files are preserved. And if you overwrite a file - for example an Excel sheet where you lose data - you can restore a previous version from your cloud backup in Onlime. We store the 5 most recent versions of all your files. Onlime saves all files that you delete for 30 days (e.g. when you clean up your computer). You'll find the deleted files in the Recycle Bin in Onlime.

How do I synchronise files between devices?

With Onlime you can access your files across computers and mobile devices. With our Onlime apps, you can store files on our secure servers in Scandinavia. Once files are stored online in Onlime, they are automatically accessible from our apps and website across your devices - anywhere you have internet. When you save files to the Onlime Sync folder on one computer, they are automatically downloaded to the Onlime Sync folder on other computers where Onlime is also installed. Synchronisation works by transferring and storing your files in our secure cloud - and then transferring them to your devices. You always have a backup of your synchronised files in the cloud.

Can I back up my phone?

Yes, with the Onlime app on your iPhone or Android device, your photos, videos and contacts are automatically backed up to the cloud. It's easy to get started. Just install Onlime, login or create a user and give the app access to your photos - and the automatic backup is on. We'll even notify you if there are any photos and videos that need to be backed up online. You can also use Onlime to free up space on your phone. Once the backup is complete, you can use the app to free up space - Onlime will show you the files you can delete locally on your phone because they are already backed up in the cloud in Onlime.
